High 5 for Friday!

I am super excited to have my very own/first “High 5 for Friday” and link up with Lauren, From My Grey Desk!

Here it goes:

1. Starting this blog and actually keeping up with it so far. I am really enjoying myself 🙂

2. Found these bad boys on sale. $5.50 each and when you buy 3 you got a $5 Target gift card. Yes Please!
(These are the big ones, btw.)

3. New sheets! Two sets in fact! We have had only one (well really two but the other set is flannel and its 100 degrees outside, you wouldn’t use them either) set of sheets since we moved in together in May (my bed was bigger than his) and with a black lab puppy always trying to snuggle with us (AKA me) we have to wash the sheets. A LOT.

4. Tried cold soup. It was pretty good! I don’t have a pic of the actual soup from that evening, but here is where my friend found her recipe. Pinterest of course!

5. And of course there is Ellie. She is always a great part of my week but this week she got a bath! No more smelly Ellie!

Using What I Got

So in this time of me receiving unemployment, I can’t really justify spending money on clothes. And if you know me, you know how much I love target. I have been buying the essentials and that’s about it. SO I am trying to make the most of what I have already in my closet without buying much else. I am human. Sometimes things just fall into my cart on “accident”…oops.

Anyways, I sell jewelry, so I am hoping that I can really get creative and make new looks with “what I got” by using all the jewelry I own and sell. Here is this week’s.

Shirt: Marshalls $10 bucks (Super Stoked)
Jeans: Gap 2006 – I haven’t worn these in a while but I am glad I am bringing them back. I have to wear non form fitting tops with them though.
Shoes: American Eagle. (I love these. I wear them almost daily)
Necklace: Premier Designs (you can get one here)
Earrings: Premier Designs (you can get one here)

I am not very good at taking serious photos. As you can tell…
Also, Here is a closer look at the necklace and earrings. The small chain pendant, was a gift for my college graduation a few years back, I wear it everyday so I probs. won’t mention it in these outfit posts.

Life in the unemployment line.

Oh the joys of the job hunt. I spent this evening writing cover letters and filling out applications. I guess I only filled out/wrote 2 tonight but it felt like more. I guess I should be grateful that I can fill them out on my computer and not have to go in and fill it out by hand! And don’t get me started on cover letters! I have 72 files in my cover letter folder! AHH! Thank goodness Cody (the boyfriend) is here to help me write them. That boy is a life saver!

Anyways, I have two more to add to the list. Crossing my fingers for some good karma to play out in my favor with either of these. But I do have to admit. I am pretty lucky either way. I have a loving and supporting family, an amazing boyfriend that takes care of me and helps me every way he can, and a beautiful puppy that will cuddle and fall asleep with me every night. If that isn’t good karma, I don’t know what is.

…On that note…

Never Again.

So, the girl who cuts my hair just had a baby and has not been working for a while. My bangs, on the other hand, have not taken a break from growing since then. And are out of control LONG now. So, yesterday, I decided that I was going to cut my own bangs this time. How hard could it be? I have seen tutorials from other bloggers and beauty companies and it looked totally easy. I have never been so wrong in my life. Holy moly. I don’t even want to think about it. Thankfully they are still long enough to pin back. But there is no getting around how awful they look when they are down. Never again will I cut my own bangs.
THANK GOODNESS that my hair dresser is a super hero. She is fixing them today for me. And I can meet her precious new baby girl 🙂

There is a first for everything. I guess I am gonna try this blogging thing now.

I am not quite sure why I am doing this. Most bloggers have a reason or a theme to their blog, but for me, I just need some consistency on a daily basis. I guess that is my reason.

I am going to be 25 this year and I am still searching for a job. YAY for this economy and layoffs and whatever else is keeping me unemployed. I have gotten to a point where I need to do something everyday or I am just going to do nothing. I have been unemployed for almost 7 months (holy crap, has it really been that long??) now and I am bored. I have done a bunch of fun things, and I am thankful to have been given the chance to take a break after being in the work force for 9 years, but I am ready to go back. Finding a job is so much harder than I ever expected.

Let me throw this out there: I have my BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology. I graduated May 2010 from Sac State. I also have my license to be a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA). AND, I have about a million certifications from my 9 years of working at a pool. I just want to say that haven’t been sitting on my butt waiting for something to be handed to me. I have worked really hard to be where just about every other person my age is sitting. On their butts, getting unemployment. I guess I should be happy that I was working full time in my field at one point, but getting laid off/let go/dismissed/whatever you want to call it, kind of sours the memory a bit for me.

So here I am, on my journey of keeping it together. I am not willing to give up. I want the things I want, and I plan on having them one day. I WILL get there.

On that note, I would like to point out a few things.

1. I love being happy.
2. Not having a job sucks, but I will get through it.
3. I have the most amazing support system a girl could ask for.
4. I am a super anxious person (at least in my opinion.)
5. I have the cutest puppy in the entire world 🙂
6. I ski.
7. I have horrible grammar and spelling and I don’t proof read so I apologize in advance.
8. I sell jewelry.
9. I like to be lazy.
10. I love to be busy.
