High 5 For Friday!

Happy Friday! Where has the time gone?? Wasn’t it just Thanksgiving? I’m confused! I guess I filled my week up with shopping. Mostly online of course. I can’t wait to get all my packages in the mail. Too bad none of them are for me 😦
Anyways, here is my top 5 for the week!

1. The weather has been AMAZING! It is total cuddle up and watch movies and eat warm things to make you feel all cozy inside weather. I love it! I even busted out my Crock Pot for the first time! Used up the rest of my left over turkey.

2. I finally found new makeup! I Was sooo excited! It is the tight color and I am not allergic to it and it isn’t a million dollars! I got this at Ulta but what I really needed was bronzer but I didn’t really want to spend the money to buy both. SOO genius that I am, looked to see if Birchbox had any of the products I wanted in their shop! Sure enough they did!! SOO excited! I had $70 to spend in the BB shop too! They didn’t carry the foundation but they did carry the bronzer and the blush. Best.Realization.Ever.

3. IT CAME! I ordered on Cyber Monday (So I got extra points) and my entire purchase only cost me $8 out of pocket! SCORE! It only took 2 days to get to me! How amazingly fast is that?! If only our BBs shipped that quickly.
I got the Benefit Hoola bronzer and the Benefit Bella Bamba blush and the LiQwd Volumizing Catalyst.
I am one happy girl!

4. We started decorating for Christmas! I am so in the mood to celebrate and decorate this year.

5. After days and days of Cody researching TVs, I finally took him to Costco and he found one that he liked for the right price. I am so glad that part is over with! He was up till 2am every night researching! Boys and their toys….Its too bad he isn’t allowed to put it up until our couch arrives…muahahaha.

How was your week??
Linking up with Lauren, of course!

Circle Sweater

A few months ago my aunt had a Cabi party. Have you heard of Cabi? It is like Premier Designs (a direct sales company) but instead of jewelry, they sell clothes. And let me tell you, those clothes are CUTE, however, plenty expensive, unfortunately. I was only able to buy one thing at her show but and I bought this dress. It is SUPER soft and SOOO comfy. I totally love it. BUT this wasn’t the only thing I wanted when I was at her party. I really wanted this sweater. It’s adorable right? Also, I must admit that I am a sweater junkie. I feel as if I am always cold and if I am not cold I still want to be comfy. Well I could only get one thing and I chose the dress, also, I couldn’t really justify a $100 sweater… But boy, have I been kicking myself ever since!

My aunt came over for Thanksgiving wearing the sweater and I was EXTREMELY jealous! bagh! Well anyways, the next day Cody and I went Black Friday shopping at the pet store…Don’t judge. Marshall’s ss right next to the pet store so I had to go in. Right? I mean I couldn’t NOT go in. It’s Marshall’s! I walk in and there it is. It is my sweater! WHAAAT! Well not the exact one. It is more beige and not Cabi but otherwise it was exactly the same! And only $35 compared to $100! HOLY CRAP, my day was completely made! It was seriously a hallelujah moment. Like with the light and singing and everything. No joke.

Here it is!

My arm is totally irritating me in this photo…

Full circle sweater! Just like the Cabi one! Shirt: Marshall’s
Pants: American Eagle
Boots: Aldo
Necklace: Premier Designs
Sweater: Marshall’s (Cynthia Rowly)

I am IN LOVE! Dear Marshall’s, you have done it again. I am so happy!

Have you ever had your own discovery like this? Isn’t it amazing! I wanna hear about it! Dish those deets to me!

PS. Do you like our pumpkins? We are mixing up holiday decor at our house, apparently.

OH and PPS. Remember my BB vs ipsy post when I got the Oscar Blandi Volume and texturizing spray?
This one:

Well I used it on my hair today (the hair in these photos). It was just meh. It gave me some extra lift because I washed my hair last night but other than that I wasn’t too impressed. I might have a different opinion of it if I ever teased my hair, but I don’t so my thoughts are just meh.

So I am going to sandwich my not as fun post between some awesomely adorable pictures of Ellie.

I guess I haven’t written about my job situation in a while. It was one of the main reasons I started a blog. But lately, it seems, that everything is getting a little redundant and I have nothing new to say. Just the same old applying and  interviewing and nothing working out. I think part of the reason things aren’t working out when I apply outside my speech area, is not because I don’t have the knowledge or the experience, but that someone probably has a million percent more knowledge and experience than me because this is THEIR field. And this is hard for me because I don’t think I want to do speech anymore. I have had one good experience working in this field and the rest haven’t been so awesome. Maybe thats what ruined it for me. looking back and remembering how I was treated. Even now when I go volunteer, I sit there and watch and do nothing else because she has nothing for me to do.

So I think it is time for a real change. How do I figure out what I want to do with my life. I have always been a planner and I am not very good at not knowing. Especially when it comes to where my life is going. I mean, I am going to be 25 in less than 2 weeks and this is definitely NOT where I thought I would be. It is completely freaking me out.

So how do I decide what I want to do? Where does one even start? I have gone to my local community college’s career center, and they were absolutely no help. I thought they were joking when they told me to “google it”. Are you serious? When I tried to use my old university’s career center, they told me that because I was no longer a student, I would need to pay $60 to use their services. Wait what? Let me get this straight, I could have used it when I was in school and not looking for a job, but now that I have graduated and need a job I can’t? You make no sense.

I guess maybe I should actually read this book I bought last year. Maybe that will help? Who knows.

But here is to change and to not knowing. Hopefully I can figure this out sooner rather than later. And here is to a post that hopefully makes some sort of sense, since I never proof read these things. Also, here is to you, for reading this long, and not so awesomely positive post. You rock if you made it all the way through.

She was so mad I made her wear a sweater.

Liebster Award!

WHAAAT! Melissa over at A Mile In Her Boots, nominated me for the Liebster Award! HOW COOL IS THAT?!? Thanks girl! You rock!

The Liebster Award is given to new or up and coming bloggers with less than 200 followers. It’s a great way to find new and noteworthy blogs.

So here are the rules for this awesomeness:

1. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, and then create 11 new questions for the bloggers you pass the award to.
3. Choose 11 new bloggers(with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post. (PS. this is not as easy as you may think because of rule #5!)
4. Go back to their page and tell them about the award.
5. No tag backs

11 random facts about me.

1. I ski
2. I possess LG, LGI, WSI, First Aid, AED, CPR, and SLPA certifications/Licenses.
3. Long story short, I met my boyfriend at a bar. To clarify, the jankiest bar in town where a guy tried to sell us his cd after he showed us his bleeding nipples…Classy, I tell ya.
4. I have high anxiety.
5. I love planning things. It calms me down.
6. I will be 25 in less than 2 weeks and I have absolutely NO IDEA what I want to do with my life and that scares the shit out of me. (see 4 and 5)
7. I want to have, 3 kids boy girl boy. I only have names picked out for the boys though. Luke. So Cody can say “Luke, I am your father” BAHAH I laugh EVERY time. and Makin. So I can say “Hey Makin, watcha makin, Makin? Are you makin bacon, Makin?” Dead serious. Don’t judge, its going to be awesome. It has been my plan since I was 16. And yes, it is a real name. Go watch How to Deal with Mandy Moore. I am not lying.
8. I am a love child and because of that I have 2 last names. I am so thankful that my parents didn’t try to stay together for me/never got married. They actually like each other and talk even when I am not around. 🙂
9. I lived in NY for a summer working at a sleep away summer camp.
10. Sometimes I feel like the love I have for my puppy is semi unhealthy. Don’t judge. That girl is my child.
11. I don’t think I have ever had a healthy relationship until Cody. I am so thankful that he taught me what that means.

Melissa’s Questions:

1. Where did you grow up?
Sacramento, CA. Born and raised.

2. If you could live anywhere where would it be?
This questions is way harder than it seems. I love Sacramento. My family lives here and I am very attached to them. I moved to San Francisco for a year for school and hated it. In reality, Cody and I want to end up in a small town called shingle springs. There we will be able to have our 8 acres with horsies and sheep and goats and all sorts of awesomeness.

3. What is on your DVR at all times?
Well, I don’t have a DVR. We actually don’t have cable either. Never have. Mostly we watch Netflix and Hulu. At the moment, I have been on a Bones kick. and The Simpsons and Psych and Glee and Castle and New Girl and I feel like I should stop before it sounds like I watch too much tv…..oh wait.

4. What are two things on your bucket list?
Sky Diving. I need to do it. It scares the crap out of me but it NEEDS to happen. Also, I want to go skiing outside of North America. This shouldn’t be too difficult it is just a money thing. My dad takes a group to go every year but he says that I have to pay my own way if I want to go which means I need to win the lottery/get a job….

5.Where can you usually be found doing on the weekends?
Depends on the season. If it is winter, I am skiing. If not, I like going to garage sales and wine tasting. But mostly, just normal people stuff like being boring and relaxing in my pjs/working my jewelry business…sometimes in my pjs.

6. What’s your favorite hobby?
Does skiing count? How about my jewelry business? Does that count, I totally love doing that. It feels more like a hobby than a job. Other than those, window shopping.

7.Are you guilty of watching reality shows? Which ones?
Teen Mom! And proud of it!

8. What is your favorite holiday and why?
I love the 4th of July! I think it is the combination of warm summer nights and fireworks mixed with some friends.

9. Do you have a favorite quote that is meaningful to you?
“I am only in charge of my own happiness”

Also, I enjoy this Katharine Hepburn quote:

10. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
The consistency it has brought to my life. Also, I enjoy something that is my own. My friends don’t know about it so I feel like I can be more honest when I write.

11. Do you have a beauty product you can not live without?
My Diorshow mascara. I am blonde and so are my eyelashes. I look like I have none when I don’t wear any. It took me a while to find one that I liked and this one makes my lashes look so pretty!

Questions for nominees:

1. How long have you been blogging?
2. If you could go anywhere in the universe, where would it be and why?
3. What is your favorite thing about your town?
4. What is the best advice you have ever received?
5. If you were stranded on an island what 3 things would you want to have with you?
6. Favorite Disney movie?
7. What is your go to winter accessory?
8. What is your go to beauty product?
9. If you could do anything, what would it be?
10. What is your favorite hair product? Or are you all natural?
11. What is your most embarrassing moment?

Amanda (extra points for her because we have the same name)
Bluegrass Belle

I hope I did this right and that you all haven’t been nominated yet, and well, if you already have, then you should just feel extra special! (Did you like that run on sentence? I’m awesome with grammar. 🙂

PS. I am having a really hard time leaving this post aligned  left instead of centered. UGH Stupid numbers making everything look funny.

Birchbox VS. IPSY

If you have been reading my blog, you know that I am a subscriber of Birchbox. At first it was really awesome. But the past few months I have been completely disappointed with them. My boxes had the lamest stuff in them and they were getting to me 2 weeks after the expected delivery date on the tracking info. Now let me say this. If my boxes were arriving on time, I don’t think I would be as upset about the crappy stuff inside. But they haven’t been so I decided to explore other options.

This does not mean I am giving up on BB. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their website and their rewards program. Also, the fact that you can order products straight off the website and that everything is all in one place. Even their customer service is genuine AS LONG AS you are actually talking to someone over the phone and not by email or facebook.

In my efforts to discover something else, I found IPSY (among other similar options). Have you heard of them? They are getting more popular now that BB hasn’t been as good and people are starting to switch. Basically it is the same concept as BB. You pay $10 a month and they send you 5-ish samples, but instead of a box, they are in a cute little bag.

I wanted to find something comparable to the price and service that BB offered so this is what I chose.

Here is what I got from each company:

Thankfully BB stepped up their game big time this month. I was thrilled when it came in the mail. Also, it was only 2 days late after the supposed delivery date. Which made it that much better!

This box had a really good selection of different things in it. I was extremely impressed. Especially in comparison to the last few months.

Chuao Chocolatier: I am not one to want food in my box. Unless it is a detox thing. I am super intrigued and would totally want to try that. BUT if I had to get food, I am glad I got this. It was totally weird and I would never buy this without trying it first. It was spicy and sweet and it had pop rocks in it. Totally cool! It was a little too spicy for me but I wasn’t disappointed that it was there. I won’t be buying these though. For one. I am cheap. For two. It didn’t wow me enough to pay 8 bucks for a pack of them.

ModelCo – SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss: I was thrilled to see this full sized item in my box! I NEVER get full sized items! So jazzed! Anyways, I don’t normally wear anything but chapstick and the occasional lipstick when I am feeling just a little more daring than usual so I don’t really own any. Now I do! Awesome. It has a really sweet smell to it, though. Kinda difficult to get over but not too bad where I wouldn’t wear it. It also is still sticky. Not as bad as others that I have tried but not as good either. (I have this thing with sticky…) But still, stoked to have it in my box. Definitely something I will use. Probably not purchase, but definitely use.

Oscar Blandi – Pronto Texture & Volume Spray: This was the other thing I was delighted to see. I have been wanting to try this for some time but just unwilling to justify the price without know if it is any good or even if I would ever use it. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, BUT I will let you know how it goes.

per-fekt Beauty – Brow Perfection Gel: I was curious to try this. I would NEVER buy this in a million years on my own so it was something that was nice to get in my box. Does that make sense? However, when I went to test it, It was completely dried out and all the brown insides fell out and made a mess everywhere. Total bummer. Good thing I wasn’t DYING to try this. I emailed BB and they gave me an extra 100 points. SWEET. This wouldn’t have worked anyways because I am a natural blonde and they sent me a really dark color..Oh well. c’est la vie

PS. I googled c’est la vie to make sure I was spelling it right and this came up. BAHAHA AWESOME!!! Remember them!

Stella Cadente – Miss Me Eau de Parfum: I’m not gonna lie and I just can’t say this any nicer. It smelled awful. Pretty much like old lady. Cody and I both hated it. YUCK! Absolutely terrible. Sorry if you liked this fragrance, no offense? haha. I am glad that I didn’t get them men’s cologne though. I think thats cheating.

They also gave us this little box thing. Cool idea, but I probably wont use it. Ever. Also, I forgot to rotate the photo, sorry.

We also got a $15 off coupon for some $88 shoes. Sorry, I can’t justify that at the moment. actually probably not ever if I couldn’t try them on first. Like I said, I am cheap.

All in all this was a really good box. I am glad BB got their act together for November and I hope they keep it up.

This was my first IPSY bag and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint! I am extremely happy with the products that they sent me to try! There are a couple down falls to IPSY that keep me with BB. One, their website. I have no idea what I am supposed to do on that thing! SOO CONFUSED! Two, you can’t get anything on their website. You have to go out and buy it elsewhere, which is a total bummer. Three, they don’t have a rewards system. I LOVE BB’s point system. It is one of the things that keeps me there. And four, the vibe of the company. IPSY feels very “look at me, I’m awesome” where as BB gives more of a down to earth vibe which I relate to a whole lot more. I feel more comfortable with BB than with IPSY where I feel like I don’t belong. Does that make sense? It feel like sorority type-ish. No offense to anyone in a sorority….Just the only way I know how to explain it.

First off, it comes in a cute little cloth bag. Nothing fancy but they will be great for small presents at Christmas.

Nailtini: Lets get one thing straight. I love nail polish. What I don’t love is paying for it. It just seems so expensive for the good stuff! Yes, I do think $8 is a lot. With that being said, HELLO AWESOMENESS! I am not a HUGE fan of this kind of glitterafied nail polish but I am a HUGE fan of getting the full sized bottle in my bag! It will be great with the holidays coming up. I just don’t like taking it off.

the Balm – Meet Matt(e) Eyeshadow: I love trying out different eyeshadows. I don’t buy them too often because I wear glasses and I’m lazy and also, I feel like it is a lot of stuff going on around my eyes when I wear them both. I do like trying them on. I have been thinking to myself lately, that I would like to try and mix up some of my makeup routines with eyeshadow. The other thing I like about this is the packaging. It has a magnetic close on it which is really nice. They didn’t skimp on the sample packaging, which to me says that they care about their product.

bareMinerals – Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss: More lipgloss! YAAY! I love choices..sometimes. This one doesn’t smell very fruity which is REALLY nice but it is still sticky when you wear it. Just put some chapstick over it and VOILA! Not sticky anymore. This one also has a minty cool feeling on your lips. I really like that feeling.

STARLET COSMETICS – Intense Eyeliner:  Another full size product. I don’t normally wear eyeliner and when I do I use a paste kind (I can’t really think of how to describe it [thats how much I use it] basically it is like paint, I put it on with a brush) but it will be nice to have if I ever decide I am going for a certain look.

benefit – They’re Real beyond mascara: This was fun to get. I am at the beginning of what I hope to be a long journey of love with Benefit. However, this didn’t really give me the look I like and I have pretty full and long eyelashes (they aren’t amazingly awesome or anything, but they aren’t too shabby) so I don’t really feel the need to try and make them grow just yet. I tried to use Benefit’s Bad Gal lash a few years back but I didn’t really like that either. Maybe I am just not a Benefit mascara girl. I will stick to Dior for giving me my preferred look.

We also got a $20 off coupon for a $40 pair of shoes (WAAAY more affordable than those $88 ones) But they email you constantly! I had to unsubscribe already. Oh well. I’m not too worried about it.

I really liked my IPSY bag. It had a lot of cosmetics in it which is what I really like playing with. I also felt that their selection was really good too.

I have to admit though, I do like the card that BB sends better. BB has all the products and descriptions and prices on theirs when IPSY just has the name and brand. What IPSY has on theirs that BB doesn’t is a coupon for each item, which is kinda cool. I guess that is their rewards system (I still like BBs rewards better)

Bottom line. I Like them both. I have only been with IPSY for a month, but if they keep sending products like these I will be one happy camper. However, the website and the vibes I get from the company don’t make me as comfortable as BB. So in terms of products this month, IPSY totally won. But when it comes down to the company vibe and website I would hands down choose BB. On shipping times IPSY is better at that too.

I hope this helps/you had the patience to read this monstrosity. Do you use any of these services? What are your thoughts on them?

PS. I totally used a thesaurus while writing this. Be impressed.

Something Important Has Come To My Attention.

I recently have discovered that I have been a bit more anonymous than I have meant to be. It has been pointed out that I have never shared my name! OOPS. Totally never my intention. I guess I should tell you my name. I like to know whose blog I am reading, it makes a little more personal, ya know?

Well here it is. The big reveal. I know you are all waiting in suspense to know.

Exciting, right?

Ps. maybe you already saw that I put a thing-a-majig on the side of my page with my name on it. So maybe this wasn’t the biggest surprise…

I am going to go ice my eye now. Ellie decided to accidentally give me a black eye today…I am trying to think of a good Black Friday war wound story for it…make me feel more like a badass.

Happy Saturday!

High 5 For Friday!

This is the most sleep deprived H54F I think I have ever done. OYE. I am not making it to any sort of 4am shopping sprees this morning. I guess I could just put on a pot of coffee and try to stay awake for the next few hours…but lets be real. That ain’t happenen. (Tired jollies)

Here are my top 5 for the week!

1. My birchbox came! It was a pretty good one too. Can’t wait to dish about it.

2. My family gathered at my house and we had an awesome Thanksgiving. I was thrilled they all made the trip. ANNNDDD to top it all off, after everyone left, Cody and I cleaned the whole house so that we didn’t have to worry about it later! I am super proud/satisfied!  Also, of course, 4 different types of dessert? YES PLEASE!

3. I feel this needs to be a separate 5. I cooked my very first turkey! It was a lot harder mentally than I thought it was going to be. I had to put my pilgrim hat on and feed my family. It was not an animal…..
(I look super worried about it, don’t I?)

4. Because of the holiday, I was finally motivated to finish my frame wall!

5. Oh Black Friday. I am skipping the lines this year. Mostly because I normally go with my cousins Johnny and Kevin but we aren’t together this year for the holiday. SOOO we are doing our BFS (BlackFridayShopping) online. GIVEMEMYNEWTV!

Linking up with Lauren!

Keep In Mind I Wrote This Last Night.

Ok I lied. I am going to post today. Mostly because I don’t want to fold the laundry just yet so I have some time.

Keep in mind I wrote this last night.

Our table. It is gonna be a tight fit…..
All my DIY projects for turkey day are done 🙂

I didn’t want to go all crazy on centerpieces because there is just so much else going on. I think these are great!

My frame wall is finished! It only took a few month to finish…..oops.

Remember when I said I finally put this frame up??? Well I finally put photos in it! Just in time.

We had to bring in a reinforcement “drink” fridge. It was my old one from back in my dorm days. It has come in handy a few times since then.

I took this photo last night. It will be much fuller later today.

Like I said, Keep in mind I wrote this last night. Not everything is done. but for the most part things are looking good! I’m just ready to eat tomorrow. I am already starving.

Family Time.

Hey guys,

Today and tomorrow are going to be CRAAZY. My grandma is coming into town today and then tomorrow is the big day, so I think I am just going to enjoy the family time and not worry about blogging. I will try to post something interesting tomorrow, but if not I will definitely be back Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ok people. There is something very important we need to talk about…

It is not Christmas yet!!!

I am hosting my first Thanksgiving this year. Stop stressing me out with all your Christmas decorations and let me have this holiday!

I already feel behind on it all. I am not even thinking about trees yet! AHH!

Seriously though, did y’all forget about Thanksgiving???

Get it together!

Oh and just in case you are wondering…Go here.

Ok. Rant done. My eyes are burning from the onions I was cooking. So I am gonna go cry until it doesn’t hurt anymore.
